Whilst procrastinating and therefore browsing the internet whilst I was supposed to be editing some new photos in photoshop I came across the concept of live wedding illustration. I had that familiar pang I get every time I see a new great idea – ah I need to plan another wedding to use all these fab ideas!
You can actually have a artist paint scenes of your wedding live and then you receive a collection of pictures as you would from a photographer. Some of the paintings were really beautiful and would make a unique keepsake memory of your wedding day.
I came across Greg Kalamar on Pinterest and that sparked my interest. I thought this image was so beautiful and that the concept of depicting scenes from your wedding on canvas captured something of the importance of the event much more than a photo could.
You can see his other work on his site gregkalamar.com.
However, Greg Kalamar is an American based artist, so I started looking closer to home and came across Sarah Godsill of www.eventsillustration.co.uk. Sarah Godsill offers a different style to Greg Kalamar, but again her illustrations give much more weight to each image than a photograph could.
There are many different styles you could choose and it is important to select an artist whose style you really like. It seems like a wonderful way to remember you wedding.
You can always have paintings created from your wedding photos after the event if you don’t want to break the budget by having a photographer and an artist. Your 1st wedding anniversary is paper after all. It would make a lovely anniversary present.
